Blue Screen not able to get into vista goes to MD directly

hi,

i have a inspiron 1420 notebook with Windows Vista Basic and Media Direct.

I have hibernated my Vista home basic, unknowingly i pressed Media Direct button instead of power button, MD loaded but started showing blue screen.
so i restarted the laptop hoping that i might get into Vista but the screen directly went into Media Direct with blue error screen no matter how many times i try restarting it always goes to media direct.

Does anyone know a solution to this problem.
I would like to retain my Vista cos i have lots of data in it so any suggestions please lend it to me.

i think this is an MBR corruption. the best way out is to use vista disc to install over the existing installation using the repair option, so u will not lose any data
you can also try using dell recovery partition. however i am not sure how to do that....... it involves booting into freedos using the driver cd and then invoking some program from D: drive i think

 

Thanks man for the reply . i tried both the way that u mentioned but nothing worked. i had to finally use the Media Direct re installation cd to repartition my disk and freshly install Vista and Media Direct again now both are working fine but i lost all my data.

IF you accidentally hit the media direct button, you can usually just hit it again while the laptop is off. That should switch wwhich partition is set to bootable.
