Blue Inspiron 1520 Owners Unite!

Have any of you received your Midnight Blue Inspiron 1520's yet?
If you have (or have not) post your order date, estimated ship date, and actual ship date (if its shipped).

Est ship date: 7/30
Status: not yet shipped

 

in 2 more hours it will officially be my "estimated shipping date"

But Ive "heard" that blue ones will be delayed. I will see if my 1520 is shipped tomorrow or not, or if dell contacts me somehow.

 

Ordered on the July 13th with a ESD of Aug. 8th. haven't received it yet so it must be because of the color, others who had different colors and ordered after me have already received theirs.

 

Ordered 7/11 Est Ship 7/25 (tomorrow).

I was told mine may be delayed past 7/25 due to a lack of WSXGA+ screens.

Has ANYONE received a blue one? It seems a little ridiculous, but I haven't even heard of anyone receiving a blue one.

 

I am not a future 1520 owner. But my system is on delay too. I am getting a 1721. The blue for that system is backordered as well. I ordered it on 7/18 and it should ship on 8/1. I tried to change my color in hope that I can get it sooner. But after they would cancel and re-submit my order, I would actually be getting it later. So I am stuck with a delay.

I ordered my blue 1520 July 10......And it shipped today!! might be the frist to get a blue 1520 haha

Does anyone know if there is any chance that I will get it by Friday? I live in Australia...

Also...the midnight blue colour was delayed, says the CSR

 

I recieved a blue one on the 16th, and returned it shortly thereafter

 

why did you return it?

 

It had the infamous high pich noise

 

I received a blue one on the 24th and will be returning it.

Ordered my Midnight Blue on the 12th, estimated ship date tomorrow the 26th and it's currently still in the build stage....and I'm even more annoyed because I checked it through the automative service today and it said it had shipped so I got all happy, then I checked on-line and said was still in production.
So I called auto service back and said in production/build stage, I guess I typed in the wrong order number or something this morning, Grrrrrr!

Its really frustrating, because I have to wait all this time, and hear stories of people returning their laptops because of the whine or graininess. I know I might have to go through another unbearable wait after this one for another laptop.

 

Ordered on July 8th, Est. for the 23rd, delayed until the 30th. Damn Blue... And None of my parts have been backordered to my knowledge

My ESD is now today. But it is still in "build"

Im curious to see what changes tomorrow. If the ESD stays at 7/25, or it changes to something else, or I get an email, or what.

 

When mine got delayed, nothing changed, The phone status check thing simply stopped telling me an estimated ship date and the date online remained 7/23/07.. I had to talk to a dell rep to get my new ship date.

 

Build stage is bull****. " A team of professionals is building your pc and assembling the parts"... If they were really building it, it'd take like 10 minutes. And then it takes forever to get out of the stage.

They could give us accurate ship dates, but they don't want to because it might make them look bad. Dell has terrible support. If this computer sucks, I am going to get all my money back and take my business elsewhere.

 

I just called and talked to a dell guy in India, and he said that he was sorry for the delay.
He then said that he would speak with his manager and try to get my order expedited.
I already have next day air shipping... was that what he meant, the shipping? or did he try to get my order bumped to the front of the line?

He then told me that his manager wanted to talk to me. The manager just asked if I was properly helped.

Any ideas of what just happened?

That's what I was thinking. He could have just tried to make me happy, because he knew he was going to get reviewed for this call.

edit: The LoJack for laptops shipped yesterday (7/31)... so does that mean my laptop is soon to follow? I hope so. Time to break out the rosary beads and light a few candles. ESD is 8/9

 

haha maybe when you get the lowjack report it stolen and you get it faster

the lojack is a program. Computers can only be found when they connect to the internet after being reported stolen.

In the other thread someone was writing about his laptop being delayed to 8/28, the bad news is it is blue and he ordered it on 7/11. So I am not confident at all that mine will ship on 8/6. And then the high pitch noise and graininess.....damn dell.

Those of us that need these laptops for college are getting impatient, hearing about all these delays.

 

Yep, 8/28. I was also told that cancelling and re-ordering would not help at all, that it was a bad idea because the first order should still go through first...

That is absurd.
You should just order a brown, red or black one and see when it ships.
Then whichever computer ships first, cancel the other one. (they don't charge you til it ships)

Ordered my Midnight Blue 7/17/07 and the ESD is 8/3. I got little worried because the laptop was still in its build stage, like most of you, and I emailed dell about my product. The Rep called me today 7:30AM PST in the morning saying that the laptop will ship 8/3 for sure. I was half asleep when I was talking on the phone so I didn't ask if the backordered item(the lid) was now available. Do you think I'll still get it on the 8/3 or are they just BSing me? It's still in production-build stage with two days left

 

I hope your rep was telling the truth.
They've lied to me a couple times, like the guy who told me that the laptop would arrive yesterday by 3:00 PM, which obviously never happened.

Is the chassis (blue part) plastic, or a magnesium alloy? What about the rest of the structure?

 

I was thinking of this. The dell rep I talked with said that if I ended up with both, that I would have a 15% restocking fee if I returned one...

I just ordered a brown. I strongly doubt that they will both ship the same day, and I will be unable to cancel before they are shipped.
The brown one was actually $120 cheaper because I used a different coupon on it. I expect the blue to ship first though. Cancelling should be easy enough, since they don't even charge your credit card til the comptuer ships.

 

if only that was true, DELL is CHARGING CUSTOMERS' CREDIT CARDS IF MORE THAN 30 DAYS HAS PASSED FROM ORDER PLACEMENT, WHETHER GOODS HAVE BEEN RECEIVED OR NOT!!

I canceled the blue a couple days ago. My card was never charged
