    Hi Guys..

Got a bit of an issue..I bought a Studio XPS 16 laptop last night and this morning, Mastercard rung me up saying that they blocked the transaction because they reckon someone stole the card. I said it was authorised and they said they would "reprocess" the order.

The thing I am concerned about is that will Dell take the money out of my account soon? Or do I need to ring them up and tell them that I want them to try again? I'm concerned that they might charge me twice (track is still saying "order processing") and I really don't want to ring if I can avoid it - phone call yesterday cost me a tad under £50.

Thanks guys - I wouldn't be too bothered about it usually but I need this system here by next Saturday at the latest and I don't want this to delay the transaction.

    Cheers!

    Shonak

You should try maybe chatting with an online rep, maybe they can answer your questions and save you more money.

When you place an order, they take an authorization, basically just think of it like freezing the money, it is just like using your card at a pay at the pump gas station. Most pumps pre authorize $100, then after that you can use the remaining money in your account to get gas, then the money is unfrozen within a few hours or days. So if you only had $70 in your bank account and you tried to get gas, it would not let you because you do not have enough for the authorization.

Basically it's just a pre check to make sure you have that much money so Dell knows you are serious about buying the computer.

However, the authorization or "freeze", only lasts a few days, when it unfreezes your bank account/credit card will regain that amount of money. When your computer actually ships is when Dell will take the money permanently for the payment.

I beleive if the authorization does not work the first time the order will cancel itself, so the thing to do is call Dell and get it sorted out right away.
