I´ve a Dell Inspiron 1420 and I can´t turn on the Block Num. I mean, the light of the key is turned on, but when I press the "J" key for example (to type number 1) it types the letter J. (I´m talking about the blues keys)
Does anyone know how to turn this function on, to type faster de numbers, becouse I use a lot of Excel, and it´s very unconfortable to type numbers with out this option

to use the "keypad" numbers, you need to have your Num Lock enabled (light on) and then hold down the Fn key while pressing the corresponding key. so for example for 1 you would do Fn+"j". as far as i know there is no other way to use the numbers without holding the Fn key.

    Here's what you do:

    Power the system on
Press F2 to enter the BIOS
    Go to POST Behavior
Change Keypad (embedded) to By Num Lk AND THEN go down one more and change Numlock LED to OFF.

Then save your changes and boot into Windows, and the Numlock LED will still be on. Press the Numlock button to turn it off, and restart. Numlock will now be off by default, and when you turn it on you can use the keypad :)
