    Black Screen

    Inspiron 700. Turn it on and XP logo is normal as well as Windows Welcome blue page. Screen with icons and wallpaper appear for a few seconds then goes black. I appreciate any help you can provide.

    Does it work on an external monitor? Sounds like either your inverter or backlight is dying.

    When you say go black, do you mean the whole computer shuts off, or just that the display stops working?
