Well, I finally bit the bullet. They came out with $500 off coupon, plus another 7% off and with a $200 gift card. So in essence I got $800 off. I got the 3 year warranty that I wanted for both normal warranty stuff and accidents. I am pretty happy. Spent about $200 over my budget but...

if you had purchased it from the dell's udel website u would have got the same config for $1175 with 4Yr In-Home Service, Parts + Labor warranty + 9cell battery + t7500 processor in addition to your current setup
-
UDell? Please explain. I am a college student and did check out their University site and it would not allow the application of coupons (like the $500 off) through it.
-
just make sure that when a third-party technician will come to fix your laptop he wouldn't drop your notebook on the floor, crack it or damaged it
-
just as a point of reference, your laptop cost 2x as much as mine...i paid 699 for mine...do you feel its 2x as good? -
check this config ... very similar to yours (marginally better) for 1180
http://premierconfigure.us.dell.com...cs=RC1000213&fb=1&l=en&oc=rcRC1000213-1834570
btw udel is the university of delaware site of dell - www.dell.com/udel -
-
Well I tried doing the same laptop through the College program and it would have cost me $1510 for the same thing I bought.
-
Sorry, I got disconnected before typing the entire thread.
You need to configure the system first and then call a Dell Rep. Most of the time, you will be able to get the price you want! -
-
-
PS: I understand you have coupons to get a similar deal so this may not be applicable to you! -
I don't think I would have gotten more than $500 off from a rep though. -
@sinstoic
that's not true. they don't honor $500.00 coupons in their Phone Dept.
what you have to do is config it online and send a quote to order or just place the order online and than call Phone Dept to get something extra or lower the price. btw you can always cancel your order as long is your computer wasn't shipped to you and even than you have 21 days satisfaction guaranty -
@stoneysilence
phone csr would discount from the Starting Price and not from the price of the system after you applied $500.00 coupon code online
i don't think there are crazy CSRs out there that will give you a $500.00 off the retail price just for being nice to them on the phone -
-
its easier to start a negotiation from $1000 on any product than from $1500 product ( you already save from the start without even asking what can be done to close a deal)
CSR over the phone won't give you 50% off the retail, but by placing an order online you already get 33% off the retail plus another 13.33% in gift cards.
You don't even start talking to no one in the Dell corporation, but already have 46.66% off the retail. and if you start to configure a lappy over the phone you going to waste 30-60 minutes of your and CSR time and all that CSR will do for you is knock off 20%-30% of retail price that's it, and its only 300-450 bucks. That's only because live person's time over the phone cost more money to a corporation than maintaining web site's order process and thats why people save more on average while dealing with automated ordering process than when ordering thru a live customer services representative
I am not saying that you should not call to talk to a CSR in Phjone Dept. what I am saying is than is smarter to place and order online with a great deal and than try to call them and see if they can knock off few dollars or give yout something for free. I personally had placed an order 3 days ago and have been dealing with Dell's E-mail Dept and Chat Dept. I might call them tomorrow and see what Phone Dept. can do to close the deal -
Well, I got notice that my new Lappy was shipped yesterday! Supposed to be here Tuesday! Can't wait!
