After i installed it it opens but only to a black screen. Seems like a driver problem, how do i check what the latest driver for the 8600M?

Check the Dell support site for drivers or try the driver from www.laptopvideo2go.com. They offer drivers suitable for all Nvidia cards laptop and desktop.

    Which OS are you running?
Sometimes it helps to right click the shortcut and select 'Run as administrator' when using Vista.
Also are you running the full game or the demo? Do you have the Bioshock patch installed?

Have you tried re-installing the game?
So even with the latest drivers it wont work??

In afraid, my friend, this is where I would usually stick the game up on eBay! lol

What drivers are the current best for Bioshock?
Also i guess the patch is from their site.... I'd been trying to play it via a steam demo.

That happened to me, except it was on my M1330. Yes I know that laptop would run it like crap, but I was curious regardless :p

First, go to http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=204425 and update your video card drivers. If you try grabbing them straight off of nVidia's site, they'll tell you to go to Dell instead. Except that Dell's drivers aren't always the latest versions. That link will tell you how to get the latests ones installed.

Second, reinstall Directx. I was prompted to install it the first time I ran Bioshock after downloading it from Steam, but decided to skip it since I figured Vista would already have the latest version. It didn't. Went to Microsoft's site, got the latest DX10 installed, and then Bioshock ran.

It ran like crap on the 1330, but it ran :D

Let us know how if that helps.

Ah, it was updating to direct x that was the issue.

Got graphics (wonderful graphics!) but sadly no audio now. What fun!
