I don't like Windows Media Player nor iTunes and use Spider Player. The newer versions of iTunes and WMP are able to be controlled with the media buttons in the front of my computer (Inspiron 1520). I want to be able to control my music in Spider Player with the media buttons. How do I go about doing this? Thanks

I don't think you can. Though try making the spider player your default player and see if that does the trick.

sometimes you have a setting in media players that allow you to bind certain keys to do certain things in the program.

The option is there, but you'll have to figure what corresponds to that key, probably what the ascii representation is

Thanks a lot dice! Works like a charm. Is there any way to be able to change the song with the player minimized or when it's not up front? Works well with WMP and I want to be able to change the song without constantly bringing the player back up.

It works with Winamp (minimized), if you ever want to consider that program.

The main reason why I chose to use Spider Player is that it has the best crossfading of all media programs. As the playing song fades, it begins to play the next song and fade it in. Great for parties in that there is no gap in song playing. SAM2 Party DJ works great but I have no desire to pay a fairly high sum of money. Thanks for all your help guys.

This functionality also exists for free in both iTunes and Windows Media Player that would allow you to fully utilise those media controls on the notebook; and you can set the cross-fade to be as lingering or as brief as you want.

Someone on these forums managed to get the Dell MD button to launch firefox and the Windows menu key to launch the calculator.

Search for that thread and see if that helps.

Is there any way in Media Player Classic to make sure that when you press volume up and down and mute, that instead of controlling it in media player classic, it uses Dell Quickset and changes it in Windows as if you're on the desktop? Every time, I have to click outside the MPC window (which is a pain, especially if it's maximized), change the volume, then click back inside the window.

    Thanks!
