So last time I went to reformat Vista to get rid of alot of stuff, and it was going fine, except I formatted my HDD and didn't delete it and make a new one, although I don't know if that caused this.

It would work fine, but then when it got to the last step of "Completing Installation" it would stay there for a while, and after that, my screen just was black, and all I could see was my mouse. This happened twice and now when I try to install XP, it says my system was shut down to prevent damage and that if it happens again (which it did) I should check drivers and stuff.\

So yea, what do I do?

I'd run the dell restore disks on it.

lol.. I completely reformat, and repartition the drive, sounds like some bad Windows mojo going on.
