    Hello again all...

I'm trying to decide on the processor for the XPS m1210. I'm not going to use it as a primary computer - only on trips every few months and around the house every now and then.

Will I really see much of a difference from the T2300E to the T2500 that would make it worth $225 more? I was considering just paying the $75 to bump to T2400 since at this power level...didn't know if it makes much of a difference...

    Would love your thoughts! :)

$225 is too much for a T2300E -> T2500 upgrade - it should be less than half that. $75 for the T2400 is still overpriced, but it's not as bad. I wouldn't go past that though.

Unless you're doing serious number crunching or video editing which it sounds like you aren't--I would stick with the base processor. Be warned that the t2300e cannot utilize virtualization. However if you don't know what that is, don't be concerned about it--almost no one needs it. I would did jump to the t2400 just because my college req. stated that I needed to have that as a minimum speed. All of the new duos are quite quick.

I would suggest T2400. The difference is not that great, but if you can afford it T2400 would be good as it would be the best fit for a system of that caliber. But if you can't afford this upgrade then don't worry about it. Upgrade to 7200RPM HD would be more important IMHO.

Thank you to all 3 of you - great to have confirmation on the choice. I think I'll go with the T2400 as it's not really that much more cost-wise anyway. (And a 100GB 7200rpm of course). ;)

Vespoli...I'm also in your area...are you going to an instate school?

Thanks, Grid. :) Considering how quickly my $1190 laptop went above $2000 once I was done configuring...it wasn't that hard to add in the extra $75 for the T2400.

Ordered on Friday afternoon (after a TERRIBLE time trying to buy an add-on battery at the special prices available when building a system...they removed the option from the live site...and the online chat guy wasted almost 2 hours, literally, of my time trying to get me prices and adding it to my cart...but phone support was pretty quick...they could "see" my live cart and adjust)...and apparently it was already built in the same day.

It's currently in "testing" mode...so hopefully it'll ship Monday...which means I might get it the same day my gf gets her VAIO VGN-AR170...should be an interesting day. ;)

    Thanks again all :)
