    1366 x 768 resolution on a 16" screen?! This reason alone, I wouldn't get it.

It also starts at $999, which is a good $300 more than the Studio 15 starting price. And 720p appears to be the only option. The ATi 4650 is on a similar level to the 1555's 4570. And AMD Turion processors? No thank you.

Looks like the graphics card is the only thing that's (marginally) better than the Studio 15, while everything else is either equivalent or lower. So, not better overall, in my opinion. And yet it costs $30 more.

i was actually looking at that HP before I bought the studio...
the 4650 may be a good GPU but coupled with an AMD and u r asking for a frying pan...the studio is definitely better overall..
only thing in HP's favour is maybe the looks and port config...

The ATi 4650 is I'm afraid much better than the 4570, not just by a little bit. The reason being that the 4570 is only a 64bit bus width, wherease the 4650 is 128bit. This will make a big difference in some games.

Whilst I really don't like to refer to notebookcheck, it is useful for some benchmarks, and the 3DMark 06 score for the 4650 is an average of 6,212 whereas the 4570 is 3,754, that's an improvement of about 40%.

Still, the display and the price would leave me agreeing with everyone else to go with the Studio. If you are into gaming, then you'd probably want more than the 4650 anyway.

Fair points, but I'd never tell the difference anyway. The 4570, even with the supposedly awful 64-bit bus width, is more than powerful enough to play Call of Duty 4 and World at War, along with Crysis, at 720p with a few setting adjustments. That's plenty for me. :p

You can't do that on this model.

Please don't make me tell you about my HP Pavillion DV6000. Because of this laptop, I will never buy an HP again :) Also would never buy a laptop with those processors -_- My laptop was a frying pan even with a modified laptop cooling dock where I managed to get 4 fans underneath it. I don't want to get started. If you want to know, just google HP DV6000 or DV9000 laptops with heat/wireless/motherboard problems. I think some people are starting a big lawsuit against hp for it because they refuse to acknowledge these issues.

Agreed 100%. Unless you are a serious gamer, the Studio 15 is a nice little machine; and if you are a serious gamer, you'd have something more powerful than a 4650 anyway.

Yes, HP consumer line models tend to get a little warm. Doesn't help when they use AMD processors for most of their range, as they tend to run a little hotter than Intel models anwyay.

Doesn't really look any better than the first HP DV6 you linked, and certainly not better than the Studio 15. The only thing it might have an advantage in is the "512MB graphics card", which is conveniently unidentified.

Out of curiosity, why are you asking which HP you want to get in the Dell forum? :p You should make a thread in the What Should I Buy forum.

It's because I want a studio 15, but I want to see if this is better than the studio.

That new one looks similar in most regards, but with an inferior 720p-only display, and possibly a better graphics card. Do you know exactly what graphics card is in that?
