I have a dell xps m1210 The processor is a t2300 core duo (1.66 ghz). I have a gig of ram. So my question is would i be better off upgrading the processor to the core 2 duo t7200 (2.0 ghz)or just adding a gig of ram? I don't play games too much, but i do need the computer to run fast for many programs (editing, video processing, ect.). Thanks for the help.

I should add that I have vista Ultimate installed.

It will be very difficult for you to upgrade your cpu. I think you're better off upgrading your ram to 2 or 3gb, especially if you're running vista, you'll want at least 2gb.

Yes, make sure what type of ram (DDR or DDR2) your notebook uses. As for speed, it is best if all your ram modules are the same speed. I believe the m1210 can support 667mhz max and uses DDR2 - but double check with that just in case.
