ok, i've searched around a bit and see i'm not the only one who hates this touchpad (just traded "up" from an 8 year old machine whose pad worked flawlessly), but no-one's mentioned my gripe yet: the tap speed cannot be adjusted high enough to keep up with the taps when tapping the scrollbar equal to using the button. i use my laptop for newsreading so accurate line-by-line tap-scrolling is something i've come to take for granted, but on this machine i have to use the button or deal with 2-moves-to-every-5-taps scrolling - unacceptable! especially when machines from 10 years ago are care-free. having this pad on my beautiful new Dell is like getting a new Ferrari with a loose steering wheel. maddening!
so are there any alternate or aftermarket drivers for this pad that will give me more tap speed? i've seen people complaining about lack of options but i really don't care about virtual scroll or any other features, i just want the dang pad to keep up with my finger. i've seen references to a Fujitsu driver for some older Dells but not sure if it would work on my 1545 or if it would solve the problem.
any suggestions appreciated, thanks!

Have you tried *tweaking* the Dell Touchpad options?
That may help!

hey Cin'abun,
oh ya, just cuz i gotta 1545 doesn't mean i'm *that* naive, hehe.. it was actually given to me by my mom who *also* hated the touchpad and took her old machine back, and the old Toshiba A65 i use for my daily reading(with the precious tall/square screen) is in the shop so i'm stuck with this unit for now but am coming to really like it *except* for the trackpad, which would have been substandard a decade ago let alone now.
but yes i've got the "tap speed" set at maximum, and when you hit the "test" arrow it's the same as on the scrollbar: "tap tap tap tap tap" = 2 moves of the arrow.
i just looked for the "customUGI" (or something like that) registry key which someone on another thread said would give more options with a different value, but this machine doesn't have that entry. the other thread was for another model. -
I'm hoping that someone that owns the 1545' can come in and give you some suggestions..
My first options would be to reload the drivers, then tweak the touchpad...I had that problem a long time ago with my 1530's tpad..It drove me crazed at times!
But I did a few *tweaking* options, and now it's good!
I hope you get yours worked out, based on what you do with your lappy...I can understand your annoyance with it!
