hello everyone, new member here.
I currently have a latitude x1, it served me well, but it's time to upgrade. My options are something within the 13"-15" screen range --no more external disk drives--such a pain in the backside. My main concern with which i need assistance is what Dell screen would be best visually? My position requires extensive computer use so I need a screen that would be best on the eyes. What i noticed with my current model is that it puts a lot of strain on my eyes. Perhaps it is the brightness, or perhaps it is the actual quality of the screen, in any case I need help selecting an appropriate model for me.
I specifically want to go with dell because I receive a discount through them.
money is not an issue. I primarily use my notebook for MS Office applications, media editing, and web browsing -- occasionally play a game or two or watch a movie.
My current options are Vostro 1320
screen options- 13.3 ultrasharp WXGA LCD w/true life
or, -anti glare 13.3 WXGA.
XPS Studio 13
-Edge to edge 13.3 HD WXGA LCD
-Edge to edge 13.3 HD WXGA Slim WLED LCD
Latitude E4300
-13.3 Wide screen WXGA WLED panel for latitude ON
i am assuming the video card is very important in the selection of the screen, so taking into account any necessary alterations, what would be my best option. the size is also not set in stone. In addition should I make the leap to Vista 64 bit operating system? or not?
Thank you very much for any future help, as you can tell i am a complete novice.

either people do not know.. or simply refuse to supply feedback. So to make things easier on everyone.. what type of screens do macs use? those are relatively comfortable.

However, I see nothing wrong with CCFL displays. My Studio 1535 has a CCFL display right now, and I think it's a great display.
If brightness really is your issue, you can adjust it however you like.
Hope ya find this helpful, and welcome to the NBR forums! -
thank you very much

I'd shoot for a Vostro 1310 or 1510 from the outlet. You can get one of these pretty cheap.

thanks for the advice guys. I think I might just shoot for either the new vostro 1320 or Latitude 13"-- I like the aesthetics & it comes w/ WLED. I ruled out the studio, I need a business oriented computer, something on the lighter, portable side.
Does anyone know if Dell is coming out with any new models by summer time?
And for the home I was thinking of just getting a nice 19"+ monitor w/ a wireless keyboard & mouse to be comfortable. -

thanks man.

from everything i've heard, the studio xps 16 with RGBLED screen is incredible.

Whats the difference between the "13.3 HD WXGA LCD" and the "13.3" HD WXGA Slim WLED LCD"? The latter has a lower resolution webcam (1.3 vs 2.0), and costs 50 dollars extra. As usual for Dell, they give very little info on their site.

Don't get me wrong, CCFL displays are not shabby at all. I currently have a 1280x800 CCFL glossy display, and it's plenty bright, even outdoors. -
Ah, i didn't catch the fact that ones CCFL and ones LED. Thanks.
$50 seems to be a small price to pay to get an LED backlit screen, no? Might as well get it. -
It's what I would do. I think that's an excellent price...on the XPS M1330, upgrading from CCFL to LED costs $125!
