    Hi there,

I'm planning on getting an e1505/6400 either with wxga or wsxga+, but one burden still remain is knowing which lcd manufacturer is the best in terms of having the least defects and best quality. From my research through this site and notebookforum, the conclusion seem to be to stay away from Samsung for both type of screens and that Quanta Displays seems to be best for wxga, and lg best for wsxga+. Am I correct about this or is there something I've missed? Anymore things I should know about? Also, how about screens from AUO since they have bought Quanta.

Oh ya, those who has e1505/6400 manufactured in May or June, your supplier and any problems.

    THX.

    :)

LG is indeed usually considered the best for WSXGA+, but I don't think you'd have much, if any luck trying to request that your LCD come from a certain manufacturer.

AU Optronics, from what's reported in the forums, is usually considered the poorest of quality.

I ordered my e1505 3 weeks ago with WSXGA+ and I got the Samsung LCD. There is some light leakage at the bottom but not bad at all. I can only notice it in a dark room on a completely dark screen. It doesnt bother me at all. But keep in mind that it doesn't matter what LCD you get, you will have "some" light leakage , more or less - it is common with Dell.

Not sure about 15 inch screen, but 12.1 AUO screen on 700m/710m is considered the best screen Dell ever offered.

I've never heard of Compaq in a Dell.

Samsung, LG and Quanta/AUO or whatever, but not that.

My e1505 has the 1680x1050 wsxga+ screen. The EDID is unreadable by every utility I have tried. I found the data in the registry, and it's all zeroes. Apparently this panel does not supply valid EDID information via the DVI(?) connection used to connect it to the video controller. Or the X1400 is incapable of reading the information.
