Just wanted to know, what's the general opinion on the Vostro 1400 screens?
Does the WXGA+ (1440x900) give better quality or is it the WXGA (1280x800)?
If I remember correctly, on the Inspiron 1420s, most people preferred the 1440x900 screen. However, it seems that on the Vostro 1400, it's quite the opposite. People that have 1280x800 TrueLife screens seem satisfied while people with 1440x900 screen are complaining about grainy screens
What's the deal with all this?
Thanks

WXGA+ in general seems to be having graininess problems. Personally, I'd just go for the WXGA with TrueLife (I incorrectly voted as I didn't read the second option).
14'' notebooks are small enough as it is (well, not that small), you don't want to hurt your eyes by having to squint . -
i have the wxga screen(lg-philips) on my vostro 1500 and its absolutely fabulous, except for slight light bleed and bad vertical angles(only 15 degrees). But there's absolutely no grain and for me, personally, the size is just right. I dont think i would have liked the wxga+

that sucks that the performance and smart packages do not allow you to choose the regular xga's. It only offers the XGA+. I already ordered....should i call and see if they can put the regular XGA on there?

BTW, I think you got slightly ripped off on the price. Might want to try and make changes...if you can. -
Well, i got the 2 year warranty with onsite. I ordered it online. I already tried to see what i could do over the phone but those guys couldnt pull a string for me if it was in their hand.
Do I have to call Dell-Small business or just Dell? -
As for the purchase, you might want to call Dell SB first. Tell them it's a home purchase (if it is).
If you call Dell Home, they'll just connect you to SB. -
So I got my Vostro today in the mail....quite fast shipping!!!
First impressions is that it is built very well. All this talk about grainy screens has gotten me all paranoid about my screen. The first thing i did was try to see what brand of lcd i had. I went to device drivers and to monitors, and under monitors and details it says Generic PNP Monitor.
Right now Im using my dads Sony FZ and I can tell that his screen is better, but not by that much and Sony makes the best screens.
Any other ways to find out which type of screen you have?
