Awhile back, Best Buy had a special going on for the Dell Inspiron 13, I bought it, and using it now, but since I have had it, I CANNOT get the machine to go to screensaver even though I have played with the power settings, screen settings, screensaver settings. What do I do? Because if I want a screensaver, I have to manually get it to do it.

Vista has a lot of trouble with this, and I assume :/ you are running it. Try to update all of your drivers and cut down on your startup programs. The drivers solved my issue, but could be nearly anything keeping it awake. You can also turn off, via device manager, devices that impact wakeup.

    1. Stop blaming the hardware for the sucky software ( Vista )
    2. Reinstall Vista. That will fix your issues.

I know you said you checked power settings, did you check in device manager and see what your power managment settings are set for your wireless card and network card.
