I'm looking at a Vostro 1520, and notice the only "real" docking solution is the Belkin Expansion Dock w/video.
Anyone care to comment on how this works? Does it work like a regular docking station? Meaning, can you plug your laptop in and run of an external monitor with no issue?
Thanks.

VGA over USB sucks! If you're wanting to use a 2nd monitor, buy a USB dock that doesn't have video and plug your 2nd monitor into your laptop.

the belkin dock uses the Express Card slot... I have no idea what its performance is like, but if you search this board or notebookforums.com you'll find discussion of it.

I haven't tested an express card dock so that may be enough to give decent video (and a reason for me to consider buying one)!
Although if this is the one you're considering, it's got a lot of bad user reviews.

I bought one. I'm selling it if you're interested.
The dock is perfect for everything except video over 1024x768. At 1280x1024 the performance begins to downgrade. But as far as being a device to hold your mouse/keyboard/lan/usb it works flawlessly and it's a really nice looking hub. -
Thanks for the input. From looking at the reviews, it looks like alot of the complaints were from Vista compatibility issues. I will be running XP Pro, so I would hope I wouldn't have those issues.
I think I might just give it a try, and see how it performs.
