    Hi All,

After lurking around the forums for a while, I thought I'd finally make my first post.
My 3yr old Acer is dying a slow death, and after some research I narrowed my choice down to the Studio 15 and the Sony FW series. Despite some of the horror stories I've read on here, I'm leaning towards the Dell, hopefully it's the right decision! I have a couple of questions before I pull the trigger:

    1) Is it worth the price to upgrade the screen to the 1440x900? I'll be using the laptop for general internet duties, occasional game, movies/tv shows. I was happy with 1280x800 on my Acer, but maybe I've been missing out!

    2) Is the Dell warranty tranferrable when you move countries? I would be going for the 3yr in home warranty, but will likely be moving from the UK back to New Zealand within that time, so it would be good to know if the warranty will remain valid.

    Thanks.

I think it's unlikely the warranty would be valid, but it can't hurt to ask Dell. I know in the US Dell offers IWS for a fee. Perhaps that's an option.

    1) Personally I think 1440x900 is the ideal resolution for a 15.4”.
    2) I bought my notebook from DELL Japan with international warranty. They told me that I can get it fixed in any country with a DELL service station. Things could be different for you, call DELL.

Well I managed to get through to Dell, and the 2/3/4yr warranty can be transferred to any country where Dell operates, so that's good news.

Sounds like the 1440x900 screen is a good option to take too.

    Thanks for the help.

You look at the screen the most i think it's definitely worth the money I run WUXGA on mine and its still amazing switching back to my desktop with a 800x600 rez and it sux! definitely go with the nicer screen
