I just installed battery bar and it says that my battery wear is already 6% and I hardly used it on battery. The computer is around 2 weeks old. Is this normal? How much battery wear did you guys have on your new computer? I bought mine from Dell Outlet, so could it be that I received a used battery?

    Hi,

After installing the battery please login to BIOS and check the battery status, and ensure that there are no error messages about the battery. When you connect the adapter do you have any error messages in the system tray (The battery symbol on the right hand bottom corner)? Please let us know in case there are any error messages, along with the system model.

Please do write back in case you need any further assistance.

    Thanks and regards,

There are no error messages in the BIOS, nor in the battery symbol. But Battery Wear statistic shows as 6% - as verified by reputable software i.e. Battery Bar. The model is inspiron 17R SE [6 cell battery].

    Hi,

What is the approximate back up time that you are getting from the battery with the recommended Dell power plan? If there are issues with the battery other than the information from “Battery Bar” utility, you may contact our support. Based on the warranty we will be able to help you accordingly. We neither recommend installing 3rd party utilities, nor have we tested the accuracy.

Please find below the link for the Dell Online diagnostics, you may run diagnostics on the battery and let us know if there are any errors.
