May I add a further question?
Is there a significant difference in battery life betwenn notebooks with a 8600 GT and a 8400 GS?
Where do I find the power sucked by nVidia graphics cards? Only thing I've found on nVidia's site are framerates and the such, but not hom many watts they suck when idle and at full power.

^^ same. 5 1/2 with my 9 cell is about what I get and that is a mixture of everything, closing opening, sleeping, power down and up, music, web surfing, typing documents. I take it to school and it lasts all day. But don't expect to get 5 1/2 of straight music, full screen brightness, and encoding a movie in the background. You can suck a battery dry pretty quick.
