I just received my new Dell Inspiron 1525 last week and the battery is only showing a 93% charge! I've only used it once just to test how long I can get out of it.
Should I ask Dell to replace the battery? Will they? I think this is unacceptable for only one use!
Thanks!
Also, can I just email them about this if I choose to pursue it? I'd rather not talk to Indian support. Thanks again.

Run it through a full charge/discharge cycle and follow the battery guide.

I did follow the battery guide. I discharged the battery to 20% then charged it. Now it's showing only 93%. :-\

Contact Dell. I suggest trying the online chat.

I emailed them. I was very firm but also polite. I told them that this is unacceptable. If the email doesn't work I'll chat... if that doesn't work I guess I'll have to call.
Thanks! -
where are you checking the battery levels, in the taskbar, or a gadget in the sidebar?
-
In the taskbar. And Fn+F3.

Unplug the power supply and plug it back in.

Well. Dell is sending me a replacement battery. Great response time and support!
Hopefully this new battery will be better off. -

Woah! Thanks for that warning!! How would I be able to tell if I got a refurb? There's NO way I'll settle for a refurb.
-
I believe it will either say in your receipt or there will be a sticker on the battery. They are required to tell you when it is not a new product.

Thanks, deathstick.
Alexzeon, what did you have to go through to get Dell to give you a brand new battery? And I wouldn't mind being stuck with two batteries. Haha.
Battery level only showing 93% on my new laptop!
