This just happen awhile ago. Without the AC Adapter plug in, my battery only last for 30 until it gives me a warning and 5 minutes later it shuts off and I was just surfing the web. The battery shows 100% and 31 minutes. The percent and minutes decrease really fast. Anyone know what the problem is or maybe it's just the battery? My battery wasn't on the list for recall. And I only have the laptop for 6 months.

Well, that's pretty bad, even if you have the screen on full brightness and such. You're under warranty, but generally the warranty doesn't cover the battery. It still might be worth a call to ask them about it, I tend to think it's defective.

Download batterymon here http://www.passmark.com/products/batmon.htm and check the battery info. Will show you the max capacity and what the current capacity is. Like mine only charges to 20% of the designed capacity and has a 80% wear level resulting in 20mins battery hehe.

sounds shot. not much you can do but toss it. I think within a year, dell will warranty batteries.Even with a 1+ year warranty plan, dell wont replace the battery after a year.

That happened to me too. I chatted with a Dell rep on their chat and I've got a new battery replacement. I checked the batterymon program. It already tells me I have a wear life of 96% left while NHC still tells me 100%. I think it reads it more accurately.

hmm...I have a similar problem. I reckon if you use the laptop on AC power all the time...it "wears it out". I hardly ever used my battery, and now the battery life is around 20 minutes. When I first got my laptop 6 years ago, battery life was around 2 hours.

I found out that if you drain out the battery your wear level increases.

Well any Li-ion battery will degrade considerably over 6 years. Thats just the nature of these batteries.
Battery last only 30 minutes
