Did anyone order the B130 with the 6-cell li-ion battery? If you did, do you know the model number of the battery?
Dell offered 4 or 6 cell batteries with the purchase of the computer, but they don't list a battery on their site for purchase as an extra or an upgrade. My computer is a 4-cell and I'd like to get the 6 as the 4 doesn't give a lot of time.
I know someone here called Dell and was told to order the battery for the 2200 and, if I recall correctly, they were sent a battery that didn't fit the B130.
The 4-cell model is TD4295. I'd like to have the model of the 6-cell, so I can call Dell and specifically ask for that model #.
Thanks for any information.

Check on ebay, they usually have them cheaper than Dell will.
At least you will save a couple of bucks. -
They have them on Ebay for 99.00 now. Good luck!

Interesting, I just called Dell Parts, gave them my service tag number. They pulled up my computer configuration, had my name and address already with that.
She told me that a replacement 6-cell battery for the B130 was available through them for $56.95, sales tax and $8 shipping, my total $69.98. I asked her for the Dell model number and she said it was a model WD414 battery.
Looking at the 4-cell battery someone has on eBay, his is a different model number than my 4-cell. I am hoping they are, perhaps, putting up different models that will still work.
I looked at the 6-cell batteries available on eBay at $99 and those are model TD611 batteries and are 56Whr.
My order status shows as a 53WHr battery, 6-cell primary, Sanyo. The 4-cell that came with my computer is a Sony.
I am thinking I better call Dell Parts back to be sure they are sending me the right one. She seemed confident that the one she was ordering for me was the right one. She said they are not listing them on the website as they are at limited availability currently and only available through Dell Parts.
Did you see the shipping costs on the $99 Dell battery? Almost $30!!! That's a shame the seller on eBay is charging shipping costs like that for Parcel Post or Priority Mail.
Edit: Just called Dell Parts back, went over the whole deal and info, and they assured me that I was getting the correct model # and battery at $56.95. Dell must be using a couple of different types for the B130. I should know next week some time if Dell was right. That's a $60 savings over what the eBay seller was asking with his high shipping costs, though had I not called Dell before I knew of the eBay offerings, I'd probably have bought one of the eBay ones. Now I'll have the longer life 6-cell and the 4-cell as a backup, that should give me plenty of time on battery power. -
I just called dell for a 6 cell battery for my b130, they are telling me its $113 for the WD414. did you sweet talk them or something???

In fact, I told her when I first called that I just really wanted to know the prices of the 4 and 6 cell as I may not be able to afford it right now if it was as expensive as some of the batteries I had seen for other models on the Dell website. She assured me it was $56.95 plus tax and shipping.
After I read the comment in this thread about the batteries on eBay, I even called Dell Parts back and this time got a young man in the US (of all places!!) and he reassured me that she had, indeed, sold me the right battery at $56.95. I commented to her that was a lot cheaper than I was expecting it to be and I better get one then. I did put it on the Dell Preferred Account, so I don't know if that made any difference in price, but I wouldn't imagine it to be half of what they quoted you.
Now, the order is placed at $56.95 plus tax and shipping. If there's a price error, they may well cancel on me and charge me the higher price if they made a mistake. It's not due to ship until after Monday's holiday, so I'll believe my price when I see it. To be honest, the price to me did sound too good to be true. When I mentioned that to the sales person, she said the batteries were often less expensive at first and got more expensive as the models they were made for are phased out.
You might try calling a few times, tell them what you're looking for and ask how much, maybe you'll get the lower price out of them that way.
One thing I've found in this experience with buying a notebook from Dell, is that Dell seems to have a variety of prices on the same items. It is one of the things that I didn't like about Dell, I figure things should be one price. If it's on sale, let everyone get a shot at the sales price, not just the lucky ones who link through to an even better price.
So, I didn't sweet talk them into a better price on the battery, but I have found when I deal with any company's customer or sales service staff that the nicer and kinder I am with them, the better I get treated. I've read it's really a difficult job dealing with difficult people sometimes. So, I try to be nice and polite and humorous and I seem to get that in return. Funny thing, I was in a miserable mood, too, when I called. Had just gone through another ordeal of identity theft here in Nevada (5 times in 4 years - I think it's this state's official sport) and had just spent an hour being very nasty with some bank I've never had dealings with, being awakened at the crack of dawn by a car repossessor looking for a car and a man I'd never heard of, but with my name down as co-signer on the loan! Nasty worked in that case, and friendly may have worked with Dell.
I hope you can get the battery for $56.95. I wish now I had ordered two at that price if it is really going to be $113 like they quoted you.
Edit: Just got to thinking - did you call Dell Parts itself? I know you have to go through several options to get the one where it asks if you want "catalogs, parts, etc." That's the one I used. Perhaps you went through regular Dell sales and they are charging a different price.
