Does anyone know the specific terms of Dell's battery warranty. I know that it is 1 year, but does the battery have to be completely dead? My battery has spent most at least 1/2 of its time removed from the computer this year because I wanted to reduce the ammount of trickle charge that was wearing the battery. It also was plugged in for most of the remaining time. I rarely used the battery and rarely brought the computer around with me.

The battery lasts maybe 30 mins, if I'm lucky.

Any one know about Dell's policy on batteries.

I'm not really sure. I would suggest to call Dell's Tech Support because I could't find any specific information on it.

I know it is covered under 1 year, but I'm not sure of the specific terms which they will replace your battery on.

Thanks....I'm planning on giving them a call once I get off work.

CHC is telling me I have a wear level of 82% which seems kinda crazy.

I thought it was something like 90 days reguardless of the warranty.

Looking at the Dell info it seems that the warranty on the battery is 1 year no matter the length of the system warranty.

I read something that seemed to indicate that they would only replace a battery when it is completely dead.

Ill let everyone know how my call goes.

Mine is completely dead, it lasts less than 5 min unplugged. I get a warning every time I start Windows that battery should be replaced and order online. Laptop is less than 8 months old. I guess I have to post on Dell's forums to see if they would replace it.

Copa: I'm really interested to hear how your call goes.

I used the online chat support system today and they are sending me a new battery that will arrive in 1-2 days.

I explained the situation, brought up my wear numbers (82%) in NHC, indicated that Ive tried to condition the battery and told them that I primarily used the notebook in a DTR state, often with the battery out. The tech who helped me did a few checks and then told me that DELL would be sending out a new battery that should arrive in 1-2 days.

I want to also bring up the fact that I have never had a problem with dell's support. I have used the online chat two times in the past and have always had my problems resolved promptly and sucessfully (Other one was a bad gpu fan which was replaced the next day!). I have not experienced the issues that others have had with dell and have never got a "bad rep."

I just think that people should hear that there are people who have been very satisfied with DELLs service, because all anyone ever sees is that their support is terrible.

Ok, tried Chat Support and it was a bliss. No problem at all. I rated it as 9 since it was the best they allowed me to give them. Will have my battery replaced in 1-2 days. I'm a very satisfied customer :)
