This might be a dumb question but, can I transport my Dell studio 1737 laptop without the battery in it? Is the tiny battery inside enough to keep everything okay (not sure what 'everything' is).
The reason I am asking is I bought a laptop bag before I received my laptop. I based the size on specs from the Dell site plus answers to my questions from a tech support guy via chat. He told me that my new 9 cell battery would only stick out the back of the laptop by 1". I specifically asked him if it would stick out the bottom, he said no.
Well I got it today and it sticks out the bottom and not out the back and therefore does not fit in the cool bag I bought with the battery attached.
    Thanks

Yes you can transport the two separately with no problems. There is a tiny battery inside which keeps things like the system clock running etc, but that will last probably longer than most people use their laptops for. Think I had to replace one on an old notebook I gave to my brother after about 5 or 6 years.

As Fragile said..you shouldn't have any prob's...I've done this with my XPS 1530's 9 cell battery a few times in old backpack of mine I still use *so often* that it doesn't fit in quite well. I just place the battery in a nice *slip case* I found that it fits pretty good for added protection! :)
