I will be buying the Dell M1210. How much heavier will the "85 WHr 9-cell Lithium Ion Primary Battery" be than the "53 WHr 6-cell Lithium Ion Battery" be? And is the upgrade worth $49? Thanks!

I went with the 6-cell when I ordered a Latitude because I've never had to rely on my battery for extended periods before so I didn't think the value of the 9-cell wasn't worth the extra weight and cost. If I thought I was going to use my computer regularly w/out plugging it I would have ponied up the 9-cell. I don't think there is a absolute right or wrong answer to this question.

You asked the right person. If i were you, i would buy both the 6cell and 9 cell. Their weight is not much of difference. And besides, it costs ALOT more to buy them individually. Don't trust me? Look on dell.com for the pricing of their batteries. You'll be looking at $150 and up for a 6 cell. You get more for your money if you buy during configuration. Buy now, Save later.

I got the 9 cell, it's always nice to know you can have 4-5hrs when you're on the go. If you don't plan to use the computer anywhere else why get a laptop?
I don't if it's cheaper to buy a spare battery now or 2 years later when the current battery runs out, because batteries deteriorate even when they are not in use. For more info, follow this link http://www.batteryuniversity.com/parttwo-34.htm
