or is it because of the factory fire where they all burned up? Dell has the 9cell XPS1530 battery for $200 or $200 upgrade if purchased with the system. Is it usually this much? If I go with the system should go for the 6 cell and wait for it to drop back down and the buy a 9cell??? Or is this just the usual price?

Thanks- thats what I figured. Its not just the price on the extra battery, but it looks like they increased it on laptop systems as well- its now 200 more to upgrade. I am thinking I might be better off buying a 9-cell down the road when prices drop some, and then I will have an extra backup as well.

Unless you know for a fact that you will need the extra battery life from the 9-cell, I also wouldnt get it(though there is always a chance prices will go up).

Accidents can always happen...we need to find more mobile sources for power for laptop (nuclear battery packs FTW ;)) and make them readily available.

Also make sure you check out the Battery Guide since prices arent likely to go down any times soon so you would want to make your batteries last

Then you may want to look at the sticky in the Accessories forum for a good case...I wonder if they make any out of lead ;)
