The base price of the XPS 1330 is back down to $1299, which isn't too suprising given that it was released at that price, followed by an unusual substantial price increase; unusual, but understandable given all the delivery problems and high demand. However the price of my configuration is still a bit higher than before the price increase. Seems like my config was around $2300 before, followed by an increase to almost $2800, now down at $2600.

I'm not in a hurry though, going to give it another 4 weeks at least, hoping that they finally get thier act together on the build quality.

You might as well wait for the follow up to the 1330. It's already been out for almost 5 months so a newer version is bound to follow in about the same time frame (maybe sooner)....

Effectively they also dropped the prices in the UK today as well by adding in higher specs for no extra price.
My computer just took a hit but i don't really mind. I am so glad that i never paid full rrp for it.

The XPS M1330 was released 3 months ago.

Yeah, I just checked the RTS for the USA and it was 7/10/2007. So, I guess it will be about 6 months (give or take) and then you will see the 1330's successor....

If you wait 5 years, you might see the successor to the successor to the successor to the successor to the M1330.

Or you could just buy a laptop and not worry about the inevitable march of time.

The M1330 is gonna be around for a while, I wouldn't look for a successor anytime soon considering it's popularity and the production problems. It's still relatively new.

Actually, dell is usually on a 9 month cycle with system updates...
