    Hi!

I just bought my first notebook ever (Inspiron 6400, Intel Core Duo processor T2300 (2MB/1.66GHz/667MHz), 15.4 Inch Wide-screen WXGA Display, 1GB, DDR2, 533MHz 2 Dimm, 256MB ATI MOBILITY RADEON X1400 HyperMemory, 80GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive, 8X DVD+/-RW Drive), and I'm so excited/terrified about it!!

I know notebooks can heat up while in use, making it hard for you to actually put them on your lap, so I thought I should look for some sort of base for my new baby. Being totally honest, I have no idea what i should be looking for, but I found this one, called LapPad. I also saw this iLap, a lot fancier, but waaay more expensive. Do you think it would be worth the money to get something like this?

So basically, my questions are: I'm assuming I do need a base under the notebook... what kind of base should I get? Would you recommend the ones i posted? Would you recommend different ones instead?

    Thanks so much in advance.

the lap pad seems to be more for protecting you from uncomfortable heat, but it looks like it might block the fan intake on the bottom... the second would allow for more ventilation underneath which would keep the laptop running cooler, heating up less, and possibly extending its life. There are also hard plastic and nicer aluminum pads that also have fans built in that run off of usb to help to add to the cooling you should check some out on newegg

I don't think you need a lappad since it doesn't heat up that much

Well, it's not like I *want* to get a cooler, I just thought I'd need one...

If it doesn't really heat up, I think I'll wait and see what it is I need later on. Thank you all for your replies :)
