    Bad Experiences Already with Dell - Haven't Even Got the Laptop Yet!

    Hey everone,

    After reviewing this website and some careful consideration, I decided to buy a Dell Inspirion 6400. Well so far so bad :(

    I was just curious if anyone else is having problems with their shipment right now. I can understand things getting delayed because of Christmas. Anyways, heres whats happened so far.

    2 weeks ago to the day I purchased the laptop. I was told by the salesperson I would get it within 5 days. After I bought it, I was told on the Dell website I would not get it until the 20th (yesterday). So that sucked, but oh well, it was still before the 25th.

    On the 15th the laptop got shipped and I find out its being shipped from the US to Canada. The tracking info showed it was in transit in the US.

    Since then it has not updated. So I called Dell last night and got someone. I asked her about the status and she said her screen said that it was on the delivery truck in Canada and was going to be shipped today (21st). I asked her twice to make sure because my screen said it was still in the US. She said it would be delivered tomorrow as it is in the US and it must be an issue with Purolators online tracking info.

    So I decide to call Purolator who tells me it is still in the US and has not yet reached Canadian Customs. Great! Lie # 2 from Dell and I haven't even got the laptop yet! So I call Dell back AGAIN and talk to someone who tells me on her screen the laptop is still in the US and not on a delivery truck in Canada. How screwed up is that :confused:. She said I will most likely be receiving the laptop at the end of next week.

    It's a shame but so far my experience with Dell is not the greatest. I was curious if anyone else is having problems right now like this.

    I expect Dell is encountering heavy delays due to the Holiday Season. I also know that if Dell told you that they would fill your order before Christmas, you should not be worried about getting it late.

    Unfortunately, they told me yesterday I would not receive it till the end of next week - that being the 28th or 29th.

    Sorry to hear about your bad experiences. I purchased mine during a PC fair and they told me I'll be getting it within 2 weeks upon full payment due to heavy orders. They forgot to come collect the cheque from me on the day requested so I called them up the next day and they promptly sent someone over the next day. I guess I was lucky to receive my laptop a week after that.

    I guess you could just drop an e-mail to Dell to complain about it, just tell them you need the laptop urgently and perhaps they can do something about it?

    Yeah I tried actually and they said the only thing they can do is cancel my order. I can understand that they would be busy this time of year and technically it really isn't their fault because it was the shipment that took a long time. Just probably due to Christmas and all the packages going over the border. Thats the reason I didn't cancel my order.

    It looks like there is a possibility I might get it today. We will see though :)

    About 5 minutes after this post I got the laptop ;) Looks good so far ;)

    I have heard that alot of people who ordered dell pc and were suppose to get it before christmas will be getting it after. There are huge delays due to the holidays I suggest you give them a call and try to get a free upgrade on your sytem or some sort of rebate if it hasn't been shipped yet

    It has been shipped. It shipped on the 15th. The tracking info didn't update until last night. I was told by them that I should not expect it until late next week. I ended up getting it this morning though. If I didn't I would be called Dell and asking for some compensation but I did get it before the weekend so I'm not going to bother.
