The backlight on my screen keeps turning off. I can still see dim images on the screen, so it's still manipulating pixels.
Closing the screen and opening it again generally fixes it, so I'm guessing/hoping it's a switch/connection?

Any idea where this switch/connection is so I can poke at it?

Before doing that, why not check which performance state your computer is in. If for example you change it to power saver it will dim after a set time. Another idea, is to check your power options in control panel and see if you have anything set in there to dim your screen after a certain amount of time.

Better off checking the easy and quick solutions before you go around poking things that could cause more problems than they could fix.

You can try reseating the display cable connections at the motherboard or inverter, but I'd put my money on a dying backlight or inverter.

It's not a power thing, the screen still changes/responds, it just has no lighting so it's hard/impossible to see.

@Commander Wolf: The way it turns on again as soon as I close/open the lid, coupled with the lid being broken is making me pray otherwise :(
