I have a 2 year old Inspiron 1525. As of recently, in the past week, the backlight has been failing. It started out as flickering, then about 4 days ago it completely went out. When I restart the computer, the screen is lit for only a split second, then the backlight goes out. I am using Windows 7, updated driver from Intel's website, BIOS A17. I've always had these, so I'm sure that no updates caused the problem.

It does not matter which brightness setting I have it on, it will go out eventually (within 2 minutes).

Weird thing...It works just fine when it's running on battery power. I only experienced the backlight going out twice when on battery, compared to the ~50 times it occured when using AC power. Any ideas?

    My thoughts

-Backlight/Inverter = Made sense in the beginning that one of these failed, but if it works just fine on battery, I don't really think this is the issue anymore
    - Motherboard/Graphics Card = I have integrated intel GMA 965.

Any other ideas? Or how much it may cost to fix?
