This is perhaps a little off topic but have learned to respect the knowlege of the frequent posters of this forum.

Background. Have an old 8100 that stills works but is 4 1/2 years old. Purchased an E 1505 in mid April. I used Norton Ghost to back up the 8100 and recently used it to restore the computer to its position of a few months back. If I use Ghost to back up the 1505 could I transfer the 1505 file to the 8100. The advantage would be only one back up and I can keep the two computers in sink easier that way. What issues would this create. I appreciate there might be some legal issues as the software on the 1505 is a little differant than the 8100. I would be using the 8100 as a back up which I think is a legal way for the software to be copied.

Any help / thoughts are appreciated. This has become my favorite computer info source.

What comes to my mind anyway is the potential mismatch in the various hardware/chipset drivers and files between the two....

I'd think doing data files would be fine, but not so sure about those related to the actual system hardware.

Windows would not be happy with that what so ever due to the hardware changes it sees.
Best to use ghost explorer and pick out the files you want to transfer to the new computer.

Thanks, I am new at this and did not think about the drivers etc for some of the hardware components that are differant. That is why I asked the experts.
