Hmm.. Everytime I attempt to reinstall xp on my laptop, BSOD shows up before I can get the the Windows welcome screen.

    pci.sys address

Any ideas would be most helpful.

Sounds like you are attempting to install a non-SP2 version of XP. Is that the case? If so, get a copy of XP Pro w/SP2 or slipstream SP2 into your copy of XP, and then reinstall Windows.

    Need a lot more info:
    • What XP version?
    • How did you partition?
    • Dell OEM HD or new HD?
    • Format, Quick or Long?
    • Just where in the hour long install?
    • Did you see the Dell 30 min banner?

Sorry, I should've provided an explanation of why you need SP2. Motherboards with PCI-Express video require Windows XP SP2. Any other version will cause this exact error message. As you can't disable pci-express and install a pci video card, you have to install XP with SP2.

    Thanks KEGOBEER!
I have reloaded hundreds of pc's and I new deep down this was not a Motherboard failure like I was being told. But until 4 hrs of Googlin' and runing across your reply, I had never even thought of the Pci-Express and SP2 issue.. I thank you and my Customer thanks you.. :)
