I just tried using the Dell Media Direct function on my XPS 1330 for the first time after a clean install (using flamenko's guide) and I got a BSOD with a message stating that I had a bad driver/hardware. It only happens when I try pressing the "house" key when powering the laptop on. I have not had any other problems for the past two months s/p clean install aside from another BSOD that was related to an optional Intel wireless card update. I am up to date with all my windows updates so I cannot figure out which driver is malfunctioning. Any suggestions would be appreciated. BTW I ran the windows debugger tool and checked the minidump file but found nothing. Any help would be appreciated.

I had the exact same issue. My problem however was caused from creating non-default partitions. When you first enter the DMD disk you have the choice of 1 or 2 partitions. If you go and create more then those 2 on vista install it completely screws up DMD.

I tried for 3 days to get this to work with my partition layout and it just kept corrupt my Vista partition. I called tech support and their only solution was to format the DMD partition so that the house button wouldn't work while the laptop is powered off.

Essentially, Dells software is crap and the tech support knows nothing about it.

If you find a work around please let me know.

So I guess I cannot partition my HD and still have use of DMD. Oh well, I rather have a partitioned drive then have use of DMD. Has anyone else found a solution to this problem?
