I have a Dell Inspiron 1520 (C2D, 2 GB RAM, Vista Home Premium). Last week after some WIndows automatic updates, I realized that whenever I restart the Machine I get BSOD. This is only for the Restart, when I shutdown and start again this doesnt happen

On the BSOD, when I do "Power OFF", I get the Screen with options saying: Start WIndows Narmally... With Safe Mode..and all

I do start in Normally and everything is OK after that. But I dont know why I am getting the BSOD only on the Restart

I had a similar problem before with Windows Updates. What I did is somewhat tedious, but it did the trick.

-Uninstall the updates that you just installed (or system restore to before the updates).
-Install the updates 1 by 1 until this problem starts occurring. There is your culprit.

I also had this problem after the updates (6 of I think) released around Jan 9th, I decided to install the SP1 RC and the problem went away. The BSOD error if you look at it indicates that the Hard Disk cannot be accessed, strange why it only happened on a soft restart but was OK on a cold start. It has mainly been Dell users that got this behaviour with the updates so I can only guess the updates introduced a conflict with a Dell driver that is no longer a conflict with SP1 RC installed.

    That's possible.

So, have you uninstalled SP1 RC and now you're having the problem again, or did it start happening even with SP1 RC installed?

I'm still using SP1 RC, it works fine for me and it prevents the BSOD :)

The SP1 RC I downloaded is no longer available for download, and since I did there have been two subsequent RC refreshes that I have not tried. However, there is a thread herethat shows you how to download the RTM SP1 that won't officially be available for download until March - please note I haven't tried that yet, I'm still using the original SP1 RC !
