m1330, recently replaced the motherboard due to the vertical lines on screen. Just noticed the device is "missing" in both windows and kubuntu as I seldom use the bluetooth.

The bluetooth light still lights up though. The one beside the wifi light.

How is the bluetooth wired in this thing? It seems to me the guy plugged all the right wires back. If it's not too much a hassle, I rather fix it myself.

    Any guides/pics would be appreciated.

Its an additional card on the motherboard. My guess is that the tech didn't swap it, thus you don't have the physical card. Probably miniPCI, which has no cables.

    I'd give Dell a call.

hmm...just opened up the hinge...the card is still there. I cant see the other end of the connection though. Think I'll call dell and see what they say.

I'd guess the tech didn't attach the other end of the cable to the motherboard during the swap.

Dell sent another guy in today, he replaced the bluetooth module and "verified" the other end of the connection being present. He just flipped one of the metal plates up and peeked through.

So now, they are blaming it on the software, since I run 2 OS. They recommend a reformat and a clean windows only install! (just to solve a bluetooth problem!)

I've still got schoolwork, so wont be reformatting anytime soon :(

*Fwiw, I've not installed vista SP1 yet.

Strange that the light comes on but isn't detected. My m1330 bluetooth light doesn't even come on. They are sending a tech out to have a look.
