I just found an update for the BIOS on my E1405 that was released a week ago. I was just wondering how hard it is to update the BIOS and whether there were any risks to my system.

It's a simple .exe file. Just download it to your desktop and double click. The program will take care of the rest.

yeah, it pretty much does the work. It will ask you if you want to flash your BIOS, you'll select Yes. Then just let it do its thing. While it is flashing, just leave it alone. It shouldn't take very long.

What does this BIOS update fix? See if there is a file that says what is changed. If it is nothing signifigant, I wouldn't bother.

word of wisdom. Never update your bios. NEVER!!!

well not without any good reason. thats like upgrading from coach to 1st class and the seats and service are the same in both areas. Sometimes bios upgrades even mess up CPUs.

i personally dont upgrade programs that dont need upgradign. I was still using aim 95 with maybe 1 update before i started using trillion a few months back.

I broke down and updated last night. It shuts windows down and runs a script in the shutdown process. Then reboots and your done.

I didn't really notice any difference. Which, I suppose is good news.
