lol i did it I HAD TO i ordered my first item on the net, my first laptop.
i now wait for my new dell inspiron 9400 to come home. The specs are good i think but the price is making me sad..

    Inspiron 9400 Intel® Core™ Duo Processor T2500 (2GHz/667MHz FSB)
Screen 17 inch Wide Screen XGA+ Display
Memory 1GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 533MHz
    Video Card 256MB NVIDIA® GeForce™ Go 7900 GS
Hard Drive 100GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive

i also got 3Yr Ltd Wty with 3Yr NBD Onsite Serv with CompleteCare and 3Yr Tech Support i wanted complete care and onsite service just incase but i have no idea what NBD is and tech support sucks from what i heard

quickquestion how long does a 80 WHr 9-cell Lithium Ion Primary Battery
last or would last on this setup 2.5 hours? 3? 8? 10? 1000?

All this costed me a big bite in my wallet i lost couple months ago, $2,728 CND i tried coupons after coupons but nothing worked so i just went with it :(

but the good news is that it came with a free Dell All In One Inkjet 924 :D all my printer worries are over

Yeah, you can't use the E1705 codes through Dell Small Biz, just Home. Did you need to go with the Small Business 9400? You could have gotten an E1705 for a lot less, and it's the same thing (besides customer service). But congrats on the new machine. :)

I just configured this on the Candian Dell site:

    Intel® Core™ Duo Processor T2600 (2.16GHz/667MHz FSB)
17 inch UltraSharp™ Wide Screen UXGA Display with TrueLife™
    1GB DDR SDRAM
    256MB NVIDIA® GeForce™ Go 7900 GS
    100GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive
3Yr Ltd Wty with 3Yr NBD Onsite Serv with CompleteCare and 3Yr Tech Support

For $2178 before tax/shipping. The processor and screen are better than what you configured. Wonder why yours was so much.

Can you possibly cancel the order ? 2700 $ seems way too much for an E1705

The customer service will be better and faster with small business, but you'll have to ask yourself if it's several hundred dollars better. For me, it definitely wouldn't be, especially having the accidental damage coverage which will give me a low-hassle replacement service for most any reason.

And to give you an idea about your battery, I have the 9 cell on an E1505/6400 with 1.86 GHz, 1 GB RAM, and 256 MB video card, and with 100% charge, it tells me I'll get 5 hours of normal use and a lowish backlight level. And actually, that is pretty accurate for what I get. So, yours will, indeed, be less life, but it'll suit you pretty well for on the go - not strenuous - activity.

Good luck getting this all figured out with what's best for you.

I've heard that Dell Small Business custmer service is much better, though I haven't had to use it yet. *Knock on wood* I know that the Home Customer Service is outsourced to India whereas Small Biz is kept local in the U.S. (not sure if that applies to Canada). I would say you could get Complete Care and better specs on the computer through Dell Home and it would be a better deal.

i get maybe 2 hours when not doing terribly taxing stuff with my 7800 GO and 2gb ram 100GB hdd. Your video card consumes less power so you should be able to run better.

Yeah, I just configured the same thing. I think you should definitely go through the Home department. With CompleteCare, you should be covered and not have to worry about the service too much.

Having used both, I would classify this statement as "urban legend"...but as always YMMV
