My b120's audio has gone to the Rice Chrispy elves, I'm not sure when it happened. I havn't really kept track becase I havn't listened to music on it in so long. I put in a new 120gb hard drive (in place of the 40gb) and installed the original drivers and such. I later installed the drivers off of dell's website, and a few days later I began to take notice of the choppy audio when I was watching some top gear episodes (sh** yeah... Sh** NO!). Then I realized that Every sound was really crackly and choppy, even CDs. I have gone back to the original driver now and it still crackles like a Som*****. I don't want to think that its the hard drive causing the problem, I don't see how it could be. I could use some ideas, so I'm willing to listen.

Getting rid of processes (to around 35-40) usually helps this. Rebooting the computer helps as well, if you don't know what processes to stop.

Try reinstalling the audio drivers for the notebook originally, or reinstalling, it might be a conflict issue.

I tried reinstalling the original drivers, and the thing is that when I put the old hard drive back in, and run the same programs the audio is fine
