Mobile Connect seems to be what Microsoft should have cooked up with windows 10. Dell beat them to the punch. Oh well, My favorite notebook company has what is going to be one MUST HAVE feature for my wife and I moving forward. Having full control and features of our phone on our notebooks when we are using them. Get text messages, make and receive phone calls and even use apps on our phone via a screen on our dell machines. VERY CLEVER! Coming to notebooks purchased in 2018 in the beginning, but my sources say they are pushing this to older models sometime after CES.

Wait, so they finally copied the smart things Apple did years ago?

Some people would like to make the comparison to apples integration, however dell takes it further allowing you full access to your phone via a screen on your desktop/laptop. You can use Apps, view media, text, phone and more. It's way more useful than just having Imessage available to you on your macbook.

So if your PC gets hacked, your phone is auto-hacked too? That seems like a bad idea...

I just read about pushbullet, while neat, it has no where near the power that mobile connect has since you can only transfer files between your phone and computer and receive notifications. Mobile connect you have full access and interactivity with your phone and computer.

I don't have these problems, but there are ways of revoking access at all points, and using 2FA, email, sms, phone, etc.

Generally, I am very wary of granting full remote control to anything since even people I know can go through my phone if I leave then alone with my PC that way.

I'am already using it in my Dell 7567 and loving it. You just have to install DELL CONNECT app from Microsoft store and the same in your Android Mobile. Only few smartphones are working with this, infact it is something related to rom configurations i guess as it didn't worked with stock rom, Hence i just flashed AOSP on my android device thus making it work.

I see the essential phone in my future. Stock android will work since there is nothing in the way. I hope they have full apple support too for the iphone. I have a bunch of android phones now. but the essential is my new jones'in. This will push me over the edge! ha ha.

I'm curious why anyone wants their PC to control their phone? Maybe I'm missing something cool.

Because instead of picking up your phone etc it's all right on your desktop. Increasing workflow speed. Etc. Thats why.

Except for me that would waste a lot more time. I have my phone on me all the time. The 1 second that it takes to pull out of my pocket isn't a huge loss...
