    I Have a $1200 3.06 ghz 80 gig hard drive and 1 gig ram, but i saw a dell Inspuration 2200 for 50% off. It comes with a free printer and ram upgrade

    Is it worth getting the 2200 at that price? Or any laptop with those configs for that matter, or will one be spending their time & money upgrading?

    Its just a simple gift for a person who doesnt have a computer and you want them to feel special that they got a new laptop. ;)

    The 2200 is for those who do very basic things and run only few programs at a time. If you are looking to play games and use your computer for everything, then you'll spend alot of money in upgrades.

    Hmmm ya, but from some desktops i've seen, for instance, even the most basic task like loading simple programs and windows, and using the start menu ect, seem to take s0o0 long and we are talking about pretty high priced Dells or MDG types.

    I don't know if it's the same for main[cheaper]stream notebooks but I know, even if I were doing VERY BASIC applications, I wouldn't want it to be THAT slow.

    build ur own desktop, or get a nice laptop like the Z70va, or I9300, 5720, depending on ur needs and for dells get coupons.

    The home section now has the replacement of the Inspiron 2200, the Inspiron B120 for the same $399 price, after discounts and rebates. Not too bad for an updated version, just released.
