I would say average time is between 2 and 3 weeks. For the discount, you will have to cancel the order and reorder.

Personally I've never had to wait over a week. Maybe one day or two but that's it. Particularly now they seem to be going very fast.

I got my m1330 ten days after I ordered it. I know others have had problems with Dell taking so long, but I have never experienced this.

its an employee pricing program. example: my university is registered with dell so that students can save a certain percentage on their purchases. When I ordered my XPS 1530 3 weeks ago, I got 12% off because the computer cost was over $1600. had it been under $1600 i would have only gotten 8% off.

just to add to the OP's original question. I ordered my 1530 on the 7th and had an estimated ship date on the 22nd. With 3-5 day shipping puts the computer at my house around the 26th. On the 11th, I received a call from a dell rep saying that there was something wrong with their system so they would have to place the order again which pushed my estimated ship date to the 28th. Well I was not happy so I called them up and had them upgrade my shipping to next day. Right nwo DHL says my computer will arrive tommorow. So 12 days total.

The best deal is usually the Dell Coupons. And discounts do not stack.

I ordered a 1525 on Jan 12 and it said expected ship date Jan 28. This is my first time ordering from Dell and I was shocked to see it would take so long to build. Mines been in the "in production" stage for a week now.

My desktop died on me so I trying to wait patiently...

Don't let the status posted online fool you. My laptop was in production the whole time I was waiting. It was switched to "shipped" Thursday, and arrived the very next day.

So, I don't think the status thing is very accurate.

I ordered it on the 26th. Shipped on the 31st. I didn't have a problem among other people did. I am one of the 95% of the customers that were EXTREMELY pleased with Dell and their transaction.

I agree. I have never had a problem with Dell. I have ordered 3 laptops and a number of desktops (for myself and others) from Dell, and they have always arrived before the estimated ship date.

I have been a satisfied Dell customer for 7 years.
