This all doesn't surprise me. Their level of quality has dropped to record lows IMHO... I hope to God they improve their service quality by the next time I need to order from them or need service...

The chat option on the Dell site is also not working - it keeps on saying that all of their reps are busy at the moment. I've been trying for over 30 minutes. I wonder if they are all related?

It has been two days since I haven't heard from her.
It's like 'Love'
You hate her but at the same time you call her two or three times per a day hoping that she would say something different.
I know it sounds stupid but I kinda miss her now.
I want her back!!!!

I hope you get your laptop for college because I'm in the same frigging boat. I need my laptop for college, which starts September 4th. I'm majoring in a computer/tech field and I am really going to rely upon having a working system (with my school's image on it with all the software!)... This is my first year of college and if I get screwed over because of this, I'm not going to forget. When it comes times to buy another laptop, I'll think twice about Dell.
The good thing for yourself atleast is that it has been SHIPPED. At least you know it is on it's way to you and that Dell can't mess anything else up from this point forward. For me and many others, it's a much different story. I just hope they get off their asses and build my laptop because I ordered a frigging Latitude business model in order to NOT have to deal with all these delays!

No idea, I just selected it around 4.30pm EST this afternoon and was connected to some Indian fellow about 2 minutes later. Unfortunaly the whole chat session was useless. The only good thing is that Dell mails you the entire chat log, and I have now in writing that they are pretty confident that my laptop will be shipped on Tuesday (even though its not built yet), and that 08/28 is a fairly conservative ESD and it will probably ship before then.
To be fair, when I asked whether its realistic that the computer will be built and shipped in less than 2 days, the fellow must have noticed that none of this makes sense and locked up and basically just started replying that he "may not be able to provide further information" and that I can get all the information myself by checking the order status on the Dell website.
So even if you could get in there, it wouldn't help you squat. -

This sucks. You'd think that Small Business would get higher priority over Home/Home Business. :-( Why is it M-F, because they have their best reps on at that time? LOL...

all i know is when i tried to cancel my preferred account since i forgot the password.... e-mail contacts takes a day for autoreply and another for actual reply, then the phone number to call were unable to locate the account.
also i am still waiting for my laptop that i ordered since july and the status page always says maintanence. -

I guess they deliberately cut these order status checking tools because they found they can't meet the big 8/28 ESD for a big bunch of customers.
Now they are thinking how to explain or how to play us again!!! It seems they have not got any idea about how to do it. So the phone number still doesn't work!!! -
This is startin to pisssssssss me off. Bad Business on Dell's part. Atleast put up a bulletin on your site!

Just talked with Dell live chat rep. It sucks! Just give you the information you can get by yourself! The answer is vague and useless!

A few days ago I was out and about, and since I had some free time, I decided to call the lovely computer, to see what she had to say about my order. I dialed the number from memory (a little scary), and when she asked for my order number, I had to take a bit of a guess, since I didn't have it with me. I checked when I got home, and yup, I've officially memorized both the Dell automated order status number, and my order number. I guess I really do call to check on the status of my order that often. (1720 order placed 7/10 with ESD 8/28).
I guess it was at that point that Dell realized I was way too familiar with their order status system, and they decided to cut me off. From experience I've learned that if you get more than about 2 seconds of music, you're never going to hear anything except music until you hang up.
At least three representatives have assured me that they would take "personal ownership" of my order, and would contact me with updates in the future. I should note that I have only received two phone call follow-ups, and both were by the same representative. -

Yup, I'm in boxing now too.... Great to be out of the build stage. I guess the order status outage was worth it. heh.

Oh for crying out loud! I just went to call and check status and got a dell rep who said the system was down for a bit, should be up in an hour? I wonder what the heck is going on there? I was a tad curious to see if my preproduction stage has changed as it IS being shipped tomorrow you know...wink, wink. Sigh. Anyway....ordered 1721 red 2.2ghz, 2gb, high res screen, web cam, blue tooth, yada yada yada., on 7/23, esd 8/6, new esd 8/28...oh ya, ugh hugh
