    Hi there, I got this laptop for christmas, its a Dell Inspiron n5110.

    So far its pretty good, only a few problems.

    It seems to like to auto adjust the brightness on me, like if I'm on a white website, the brightness goes up, if I switch over to a dark site, it goes down. I have tried to manually adjust it, and I have it constantly at the lowest setting. I have disabled the adaptive brightness function, but that still doesn't do anything. I find this to be very annoying, if anyone can help this problem, I would be very happy.

    My second one is, the function key to disable the touch pad doesn't seem to work. If im typing and my wrist accidently presses against the touch pad, it will skip lines. Is this a problem with the machine or just something I over looked? Thanks again.

    HI,

    I also recently bought Dell n5110 model and have had the problem of auto brightness. In my case the auto brightness occurred only on "balanced" and "power saver modes" and when my laptop was running on battery power. In "high performance" mode and when plugged in every thing was ok.
    So here is what solved my problem.

    Solution;

    1. Go to "control panel"
    2. Go to "Intel(R) Graphics and Media"
    3. Select "Advanced Mode" and press "OK"
    4. Select "Power"
    5. Under "Power Source" select "On battery"
    6. Under "Power Conservation Features" select/check "Display Power Saving Technology"
    7. Let the slider be on "Maximum Quality"
    8. Select "Apply" and then you are done.

    These steps solved my autobrightness problem in Dell n5110 model.
    Hope this works in yours tooo.

    Best of Luck
    Basant..
