Just got a new monitor (Dell SP2208WFP) to go with my laptop. I've been trying to run speakers through the monitor instead of through my notebook (just to keep the wires hidden more) but cannot seem to get any sound to go through. I'm using an HP Pavilion dv2500t and have my computer and monitor hooked up using an HDMI cable. Whenever I have the audio out cable (green) hooked to the monitor, the sound just plays through my laptop speakers. Am I missing something here? Thanks.

HDMI carries sound. Toggle your default audio output to digital.
