Hey guys,
I'm having some issues with my sound. The connector on my headphone was slightly bent, and I tried to straighten it by inserting it in my laptop's headphone jack and twisting it (bad, bad idea). Well, the connector did straighten out, but after that I had no sound from my laptop.
After playing a bit with it, I realized that I only got sound when headphones (or speakers) were plugged in the jack. When I removed the headphones, the laptop's internal speakers wouldn't take over. I realized I had messed up the connector that switches between headphones and internal speakers. To further test this, I tried wiggling the headphone connector in the jack a little bit, and sure enough, when wiggled EXACTLY right, the laptop's internal speakers take over.
What do you guys suggest I do? Is there a registry key that can tell the internal speakers to ALWAYS play, no matter if headphones are in? Is there a good way to fix the connection myself (the laptop is no longer under warranty)? Should I get an external sound card? By the way, I have an Inspiron E1705.
Thanks in advance.
