I used to think everything was honkey-dorey with my e1705, UNTIL NOW.
I record and compose music with this laptop. I use programs that utilize multitrack boards for recording layered waves, loops, samples, etc. Typically lots of tracks will be playing while I record new ones over the old ones. You get it. Here's the problem: Unlike other laptops I have had, the e1705 DOES NOT have an option for running the mic through headphones/speakers. I need this, because it is essentially impossible to record without a studio monitor of some kind (mic coming through speakers, etc.) I've tried to deal with it, but eventually something ends up being out of key. Is there another audio app/driver that can run over the sigmatel one that is on Dell's website? Another thing that bugs: there is no way to record directly from "wav", i.e.: when selecting the recording "source"; you can only record from "mic" and "line in". I need help, cuz this really sucks and it limits the capabilities of this machine.
Thanks-
