I just got my new dell m1210 laptop with the Audigy sound blaster HD advanced sound. When I play music on itunes, it sounds normal, for some reason the HD part or whatever only works when I open up a song using the Creative EAX console or the Creative Media Source player. Is there any way to use the better sound with other media players like Itunes? How do I configure this?

Probably it only works because it is software, not hardware, so you have to open the creative software in order to get a better sound...

    Just my guess.

I think SouthernGirl is probably right.

For instance, I have iZotope Ozone for WinAmp which is just a software upgrade, but when I play music in WinAmp with the plugin going it sounds a ton better than using WMP or anything else.

I have a question about the Audigy sound thingy. I just fully examined my service order and I noticed:

    Code:
    1	1	313-4362	Integrated Sound Blaster Audigy

I didn't order this originally so I'm wondering if everyone has this on their service order or did they just give it to me for free.

That's not the software. If it was, it would be HD Advanced Audigy Sound, or something like that. You didn't order it.

No, that is the Audigy software. Dell offers two options for sound:

The second option is what is listed on your service order - eventhough it doesn't mention anything about HD Advance Audigy Sound. Dell doesn't have any other Integrated Sound Blaster Audigy besides that option.

Is there a charge on your service order?

I'm able to listen to my music in iTunes and WMP w/ effects w/o actually opening the song using the EAX Console or Creative Media Source Player. In fact, I don't even have Creative Media Source Player installed. I just have the software running in the background.

It sounds like you may have disabled some services.

Does anyone that has the ability to hear the sound with and without the HD software addition have any comments on if it's worth the space it takes up on the HDD?

I think it has great sound as I have the option, but I don't know how it sounds without the software. I have heard people claim it is overpriced and it should be included so consider yourself $25 better off. Good Luck on the new machine.

It does nothing that a plugin for your favorite media player can't do. And besides, if you're listening through the laptop speakers, what's the point? It will sound bad no matter how much money you throw at it.

if you have the 'audigy sound software' ur volume control in the taskbar will look different frm the normal xp one. when u double click the vol control it will say creative on it. there is a small difference without the software installed as i had tested it after i formated my laptop.

When I ordered from the dell outlet, the order mentioned, audigy HD software, but on the item list that was shipped , its not there (not yet delivered so I cannot confirm)!..
Now, I dont have any proof of audigy software in my initial order since its gone... can I contact dell for this? Also does it come with a CD? so that I reinstall (after reinstalling XP)...

I wouldn't fuss too much with it -- you also get additional memory hogging services with it. Waste of money, IMO.

But, take what I say with a garin of salt -- some people love it. :)

Yea thats the same conclusion I got. I figure it will make Oblivion 25 bucks cheaper. Is there any free downloads you can get to improve your audio that are similar?
